The Rock River Pro-Series Elite Package – As Close to a Complete AR-15 as You Can Buy
We all know about Rock River, we all know that they make a great AR-15 rifle. We also know they were the choice of the DEA contract a few years back. Rock River offers several different versions of their AR-15′s, some as just plain rifles, some in class 3 form, some in a kit or package form. Near the top end of the package list is the Pro-Series Elite Package. So what to you get for close to $3000.00, it had better be a lot of good stuff right?
To start off with the rifle itself is pretty much a top end AR-15. Its got the Rock River 2 stage National Match trigger and is set up with a “winter” or extended trigger guard. The rifle has a 16″ Chrome Lined Wilson Barrel with a 1:9 twist rate. The barrel is topped off by a Rock River tactical muzzle break. Now for a few extras on the weapon itself. It comes with a Daniel Defense Quad Rail setup, the pistol grip is the famous Ergo Grip, the butt stock is 6 position carbine stock, the front and rear sights are both flip up/fold down by A.R.M.S. So what else do you get in the package? Well the rifle is shipped with an Aim Point Comp M2 Sight, mount and spacer as well as a SureFire M910 Vertical Foregrip Weapons Light.
Rock River ships the weapon with Five 30 round magazines and a Eagle Rifle Case. OK, so now you have the weapon, I’m not sure what you could add to the rifle other than to possibly substitute items out such as the Aim Point for an EOTech or some such thing. Is it a complete rifle ready to go? Sure, you would need a few more magazines in my opinion but other than that there is not much else you can toss on it. The carbine comes in at almost 10lbs, for a 16″ carbine its not light. Rock River gives the weapon a 1 1/2 inch accuracy guarantee which I’m sure it will meet without much trouble.
So in the end is the Pro-Series Elite Package worth the money? The answer is yes and no. If you are going to buy a rifle and want to have a good serviceable weapon that you can count on when needed, the answer is probably no. You can always buy extra mags, a carrying case, and then you could pick out what type of sighting system you want and buy it one piece at a time. As long as you have a good base to start from, which is the rifle itself, you can if you desire add the other items later. On the other hand if you are looking for a complete rifle set up and ready to go, this is it. If you don’t want to shop to put the weapon and accessories together you can buy this and you have pretty much everything you will need to field the weapon. One last thing to consider, if you are looking at a package gun Rock River will not be the cheapest around for sure but you will be getting a top flight rifle that can shoot with all but the absolute best custom rifles out there. For this amount of money the custom AR-15 rifles are well within the same price point so look around a little before you decide which is the best way to go for you.
