Rudy Giuliani could be the Next US Senator from New York, with a Huge Lead in the Polls, its Up To Him
Another Republican heavy hitter is may be getting ready to get into a major race, for the US Senate se
at in New York. America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani is now said to be looking into a run for the seat held by appointed Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.
A poll out by Marist Institute is showing a real problem for the Democrats in New York. In the poll which had Rudy against Gillibrand, Rudy was well out in front at 54% compared to 40%. That’s a big number, 14%, almost like the Virginia numbers before the race, or maybe even New Jersey. The news is no better should he decide to run for governor. Democrats should not get their hopes up, we either get Rudy as a governor or a US Senator, which hurts more? In my mind its a toss up, its a very blue state.
As I said yesterday in Arizona, Sheriff Joe is well out front in polling for governor in that state. What this shows I believe is a trend across the nation. I will continue to look at these types of races and numbers to see where things are headed, but if the early indications hold, 2010 will be a very good year indeed for America and Americans. While nothing is certain in life things are looking a little different for the Democrats who just 6 months ago were busy shouting that conservatives were a thing of the past and the country has re-aligned to the left.
You know I believe i
t was Colin Powell who said that people wanted a bigger government that would do more for them. Funny, that’s not how it looks now. Rasmussen reports has Obama’s presidential approval index at an all time low of minus 15%. I wonder what he has to say now, I haven’t heard much from him. As I said, many people including the main stream media wanted to bury the GOP and conservatives. They jumped on the ship and hung on for the ride. RHINO’s and traitors we don’t need. We need to get our country back and steer it in the right direction, no pun intended. Republicans are in a place were they could lock up the state houses along the entire east coast. New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and New Jersey as well as Massachusetts could all be red states by this time next year. The only question is how many moderate Democrats will go down for Obama, Pelosi and Reid? I don’t know but lets hope its a bunch.

In pure political terms, it would not behoove Rudy to run for governorship of New York, which is what many wanted him to. Although he very well might have won the job, it would have proven to be a political disaster for him. New York politics is so screwed up on so many levels – and so firmly Democrat – that he would never be able to get anything done. It would have been his political doom and he’d have been relegated to talk show appearances and high-paid speaking engagements.
If Rudy has designs on the White House in 2012, he could very well use a Senate seat as a launching pad. The question is … is Rudy willing to relinquish “top dog” status for a couple of years in the Senate?
