The Latest Threat to Gun Ownership in America – The Mexican Drug War, Instead of Banning Guns Close The Border
A report completed Friday by a private group is now recommending the federal government reinstate a new Clinton era style “assault weapons ban”, its not because of a rise in crime in America or a rash of shootings involving them, its because of the Mexican drug war. The report which was meant as a fol
low up to the Merida Initiative which committed $1.4 billion to Mexico over 3 years, is now the champion of the anti gun groups.
The report states that America is so “distracted” with Afghanistan and that it is taking so much of our attention and resources that we have neglected the problems facing Mexico. The group who wrote the report justifies banning weapons in America because private ownership of firearms is banned in Mexico and that 90% of firearms submitted to BATFE for tracing come back to the US. They are pushing Obama to commit to a new ban because they say that weapons are flowing South and supporting the drug dealers in the country and its because weapons are so easy to get in America. The report also recommends making changes to US law that legalizes all of the illegal aliens here and to create a open border for workers and establishing worker cards for Mexicans, the report concluded that this would help ease illegal traffic on the border. These guys have all the answers.
I have answer for this, instead of worrying about American gun owners, why not just close down the border and take control of it as we should have years ago? This is bizarre, ban guns in America so Mexico can get their drug dealers under control, it makes no sense. The
Mexican military is missing more fully automatic weapons than weapons that have been submitted for tracing in the US, but you don’t see that in the report. Russian and Chinese AK-47′s are all over Mexico, they don’t come from the US, I have seen .50 caliber Browning machine guns being used by the drug gangs, they sure as hell didn’t come from America. One other thing I found interesting is that the authors of this report love the Homeland Security Department, they think Janet Napolitano is just wonderful. They also use figures that they know are false and misleading. A good example is the 90% number, it is true 90% of those submitted for tracking come back to America. What they don’t tell you is that it amounts to only approximately 15% of the weapons seized by Mexican authorities, not 90%. Just a little different. What it means is that 85% of their gun problem has nothing to do with America.
This is just another attempt by liberals to find a reson to ban guns. Only a couple weeks after coming to office, Obama’s Attorney General, Eric(renditions)Holder flat out stated the administration wanted to re-authorize the assualt weapons ban. This “private” report is just part of the script. I have included the link to the story http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/12/AR2009111211331.html, it was done in the Washington Post and was first reported about 2 months ago. Instead of worrying about US gun owners, why not take control of the border and not only stop what this report claims is such a huge problem, but we could help to curb terrorists, illegal immigration and other traffic coming into America. Sure the actions the report recommends would ease illegal traffic on the border, because we just made them all legal, while we are at it why don’t we just sign away our sovereignty completely, Obama would like to do that anyway. It does serve to prove one thing many people have said over and over, the Second Amendment makes all the others possible.
