Conservatives Defending Liberty

President Bush and his wife went to Fort Hood on Friday night and according to reports spent a great deal of time late into the night with the families of those troops involved in the shooting that took place. Bush has always had a place in his heart for the troops and even out of office he still cares for them and it shows. He snuck in and out without any press or fanfare.

Senator Joe Lieberman(D), Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, said he will be leading an investigation into what took place at Fort Hood. The senator said it appears to be domestic terrorism and his concern is that it may happen again should something not be done. Also if it is found to be what is obvious, it is the largest terror attack on the US since 9/11. The only real question is did the Muslim officer have ties with outside terrorist groups or not. The fact that he did or did not makes no difference in determining it was terrorism. For the sake of conversation say he did not have any direct connections, the fact that he was having issues being deployed to in his view wage war against a Muslim country already seals the deal. This man was an officer in the United States Army, many people have objected to being deployed since 9/11, how many others resorted to shooting fellow soldiers? Lets see, that would be none. Maybe he did have internal conflicts about the war, they revolved around his Islamic faith, which he picked over his obligation to the US military, which again is not new in history, but how many of those who object for religious reasons go on a shooting spree? That would be the same number as before, none.

While this was going on Obama was kissing up and breaking arms for his health care bill in Washington. Obama is unfortunately the Commander in Chief, he should have found time to be with our soldiers, period. This shows the lack of understanding he has for his position. A leader sometimes needs to do things that are hard, that don’t always benefit him, Obama is no leader. His wavering on saying it was terrorism is purely political and everyone can see through what he is saying. Obama does not have the character it requires to step to the plate and follow through. Obama’s dislike for our military is showing, he needs them otherwise he would not waste his precious time one them. He cuts their budget, lets them hang in Afghanistan and now when they are being killed by what is a self described devoted Muslim, he remains silent and can’t find the time to go see the troops. Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is bust telling people she fears a Muslim backlash more than anything else. How about fearing for the safety of Americans in America, since that is what I thought the Homeland part meant. Obama could not find time to go to Berlin to celebrate the fall of the wall, or was it that they were not offering any prizes to be had. American soldiers guarded that wall for decades, stood watch against a communist enemy and hoped to prevent a nuclear war. The fact that the cold war ended without a bang is reason enough to celebrate. Obama has not even found time to make it to Fort Hood, I’m not sure at this point many of the soldiers there really want to see him anyway.  What a way to celebrate Veterans Day.
