Obama’s McChrystal-Lite, The New Tasteless Way to Loose A War – Coming to a Store Near You Soon
The A/P is breaking what they call a “leaking” story from the Obama White House. It is being reported that Obama has decided to send 20,000 troops to Afghanistan not the 40,000 requested by General Stanley McChrystal. If this is true its not really a stunning surprise as Obama is doing what he always does, he lies and then tries to have it both ways.
If Obama really is going with McChrystal-Lite, it proves another of his major flaws. He can’t lead, because he does not know how. A true leader makes a decision and drives forward, Obama “dithers” around playing politics trying not to take sides on anything. Look at his approached to health care, you know, I know and he knows he wants the government option, but he won’t say it. If he came out and said this has to be in the bill, or this can’t be in the bill, that would be leadership. But he won’t because he wants something, anything he can claim as a victory, he needs it. If Obama came out and got behind whatever idea he supported, at least he would earn some respect from the nation. This is the same thing only worse. Now he is playing politics with American lives.
Obama wants to send some troops, but and here is the danger, not enough troops to upset his liberal base. In not upsetting his base in the Democratic party he is putting the entire mission in Afghanistan in danger. While he is doing that he is risking American lives and he doesn’t even have a plan to win. For those of you who don’t know, this is how the Democrats screwed up the Vietnam War. Kennedy and Johnson after him dribbled and drabbled troops into the country a piece here and a piece there. Pretty soon we had lost thousands of lives without really having a plan to win the war. We had no idea of a complete strategy in Vietnam and here comes Obama with his puttering around in Afghanistan. Its really pretty simple, get in and win, or get out now. The military deserves out “full” support. Not some poor excuse of a half measure.
Obama has been stalling with this for almost two months now, he fears angering his base and loosing his big agenda item, health care. As Obama sinks farther down in the polls he will go farther and farther to the left, as this will be his only base of support. Sending troops will surely anger them, so he is trying to have it both ways, a little here and a little there. Obama’s McChrystal-Lite will end up being a tasteless way to loose a war.

Might it be the 20K are specialized forces?
I guess that’s just setting the bar too high isn’t it?
The only bar that has been set too high is the one America thinks is for its commander in chief.Obama can’t reach the bar. McChrystal was the general in charge of the special operations command. Maybe you didn’t know that, if McChrystal wanted more special operation troops he would have asked for them, he didn’t he asked for ground combat forces. Do you really believe that Obama has more knowledge on military operations than the entire us command structure,or could it be politics he is thinking about not winning the war?
The fact is … It is very difficult for me to reconcile the notion of walking away from Afghanistan, or only going “half-assed” there. With the Taliban in control of Afghanistan, the worst attack on American soil was able to take place. There is nothing to convince me that allowing the Taliban to gain control once again won’t yield similar – or worse – results. I know there are all kinds of strategies being bandied about, but my mind (and, yes, heart) say go with the military men who know what they’re talking about.
