Inside the Numbers on Support for Obama and Democratic Health Care Plans – You won’t See This On NBC
I wanted to share some numbers the main stream media will not give you. the numbers are from Rasmussen Reports, just so you know its no some kind of cooked up thing. The data here is truly fascinating. It shows several keys things you will never he
ar the media admit.
First on the daily approval index, this shows the presidents support measured in a unique way. Its shows those who strongly support him, compared to those who strongly oppose him. The numbers tell a interesting story. Obama has 29% who strongly support him. The other side of the coin, those who strongly oppose him is at 41%. What this tells you is that Americans are not really as split on Obama as the media would like to tell you. If you were running for an office and you knew going into the race that 41% of the people who can vote for you are strongly opposed to you, you know going out the door these people will work hard against you and they will vote against you no matter what. That means that with only a slight rise by the opposition and you can’t win, its simple math. Anytime you have 41% of the public strongly disapprove of you, I don’t care what your pals in the media are saying, you know you have a problem. Obama is running a 12% deficit in this poll. Whats interesting is that he has been sliding slowly over time and has remained somewhere are 10% to 12% behind on average.
Second, on health care this should tell you a lot. 57% of the people in the poll say health care reform as proposed by the Democrats and Obama will raise the cost, only 18% think it will lower it. 53% think it will reduce
the quality of the care they get, compared to 23% that think it will increase the quality level. If you take just these two sets of numbers its pretty easy to understand why the health care plans are so unpopular with the public. Again using the same matrix as the presidential tracking poll, 23% strongly support the plan and 40% strongly oppose the democratic plan. What does this tell you? The numbers are the same for the people who strongly support it as those who think it will raise the quality of care, kind of interesting isn’t it? Remember only 18% think it will lower cost. What it tells me is that approximately 20% to 23% of the people who need health care are the ones who strongly support it, while the rest of the country either is completely against it or has lukewarm support for it as they understand the negatives. The people who strongly support it see no down side as they will be getting something for free. It has no negatives for them, simple. Now put the two polls together and a picture becomes clear.
Obama has 29% who strongly support him, but when it comes to health care he can’t even get to those number for strong support. He falls 6% short of the mark. These polls also show why Obama is doing what he is doing. He is playing to his liberal base for support because he is loosing everyone else, slowly everyday. The attacks on Fox News, health insurance companies and the Chamber of Commerce are all reactions to a deteriorating political landscape. I look at it this way, Obama would much rather have you talking about Fox News than health care, what do you think?
