Conservatives Defending Liberty

You don’t have be be a doomsayer or a survivalist to worry about the American economy collapsing. If you can read, you can be worried. You should be worried. A look around the globe shows you why, look at Iceland, Greece and Portugal for a couple answers. Could you survive or are you prepared to survive if the US economy collapses? An economic collapse is a very real danger that many people just don’t want to face up to. The American budget deficit as a percentage of our GDP is projected at 10.64% this year after coming in at 9.91% last year. Greece had a 12.7% rate and they collapsed completely.Greece has riots in the streets over proposed cuts in services, services they simply can’t pay for. Portugal is at 9.3% and they are close to collapse and cutting every social service including welfare and medical coverage for the next four or five years.

Countries all around Europe are facing severe financial problems, nations such as France and Germany have rioting taking place in the streets, many by unions, while at the same time they press the media not to cover the unrest. The crisis is so bad in Europe that they have concerns over being able to keep the Euro as a single currency. Extreme’s on both sides of the political aisle are gaining in popularity. Socialist/Communist politicians are running in what some see as European Socialist countries to begin with, the problem is these people are even farther to the left. On the other side you have far right politicians wanting to ban any further Muslim’s from being allowed to immigrate into their countries. The wheels on Europe’s cart are coming off. When that happens completely, being a survivalist will look pretty good to most people.

The United Kingdom and the Netherlands are pressing Iceland to pay them billions lost in an Icelandic bank when it collapsed. The bank was a private institution yet they are asking the nation of Iceland for the money. It got so bad in Iceland that they held a vote last week to see if the people of that country would agree to pay taxes for the next however many years to pay back money from the bank collapse. The result was 93% voted no, after the vote the government of Iceland said they would pay them back anyway. Governing against the will of the people, kind of sound familiar to anyone? Not that our government would do that. Think about this concept for a minute, nations lost money in a private business venture and now that it has failed they are going to the government of the country in which they did business and telling them to pay back debts that had nothing to do with the government. Where do governments get their money? Taxing its people of course.Why do you think that Britain is pushing Iceland for what is obviously not a legitimate debt? Simple, they are broke and need the money.

Look around and you find Spain in an economic disaster, their deficit is at 11.4% of GDP, but hey Britain has them beat at 12.8%. How long can they continue to function as is? These nations are facing huge cuts needing to be made in their socialist societies and they don’t want to or are in fear of doing it. If you think people are rioting now, just wait. If Europe goes it will take with it any chance America has to recover with it. Also consider this, Obama has borrowed so much money we can’t borrow any more. What happens when those countries need their money back. If countries have lost billions in American businesses which they have, when do they come to us as they did like they did with Iceland asking for their money back? Do you really think that Obama and his administration would not promise anything to anyone if they wanted something? And we know he would never disregard the will of the American people would he?

Look to the city of Detroit, they are now talking about bulldozing 25% of the entire city as it is standing empty. Do you really understand what this means? How many more large cities have huge tracts of run down and deserted houses? So do we simply start knocking them  down and when we finish what will we replace them with? You know we will replace them. Public housing anyone?  When nations come knocking on our doors looking for money things will go from bad to worse quick. Will this be a new tax on Americans to pay back the national debit, what do you think? Look into Europe and you see governments cutting entitlement programs, social welfare programs and you can see the reaction the public is having. Now look to Washington, Obama is still spending, increasing debt. He wants his health care bill, with that bill comes hundreds of billions in new taxes and cuts to other programs such as Medicare. Congress votes for tens of billions for unemployment compensation, the problem is we don’t have any money.

Look around and you see things barely holding on around the globe. Now imagine something like an explosion in the Middle East. If oil spikes its over for Europe, fast. They know that, they also are not really hot on the Iranian nuclear issue are they? No my friends, you don’t have to be a survivalist to worry about an economic collapse followed by a collapse of society in America, you have to be blind and deaf not to.

The true answer for Obama’s drive for health care is far from the reasons given in public. Ask yourself this America, Why after almost one solid year of pushing, pulling and twisting every way he and his progressive friends can think of, are they still struggling on this issue. Now resorting to lies about saving trillions of dollars and telling crowds of people how the public wants this bill and how the process broke down.  Outright bribes have been given to politicians, doctors and insurance companies have been defamed by outright lies from the president himself. Polls from every corner of the nation show the public does not want this bill by double digits, three elections in blue states have gone to Republican candidates that have run against health care. With the mid-term elections growing near and Democrats looking like they are about to loose seats in numbers they could not even imagine in their worst nightmare last year, why is Obama not doing as the American public is demanding?

Yesterday in Philadelphia Obama tells a crowd his and the senate plan will save a Trillion dollars, the problem with that is that he is making that up. In order to just pay for the senate plan he would need to find about $900 billion in cuts or new taxes. Obama is in full campaign mode again, I forgot he never really left it, he is trying to sell health care by telling the public that they just don’t understand. While doing that he is telling Democrats that they need to pass his bill because the people really want it, all the polls are just being misread. Obama is actually telling Democrats that the polls don’t show how people really feel about the bill, they really want it they are just mad because congress  has taken so long to get it done. The fact that the public is seeing the president lie over and over again means nothing I suppose? Obama is demanding congress vote on the bill by March 18th, he does not want Democrats to go home and face people in their home districts before they vote.

So if knowing he will devastate the Democrats in the upcoming elections why is he driving them off a cliff? Obama could get meaningful reform and he knows it, but that’s not what he wants, he wants his plan. He is willing to loose control of congress which he knows means the rest of his agenda is over, yet he continues to push a plan against the will of the American people. Do the Democrats really believe having votes at midnight on Saturday is making the public feel good about what they are trying to do? Our Republic was formed and designed to be a government that represented the views of the voters. Governing against the will of the American people is not very American at all.   No the story he is spinning doesn’t work, the real reasons Obama wants this bill is pretty clear if you choose to see them. Obama’s problem is that America is choosing to see them.

I saw headlines today on Yahoo’s homepage with the lead in Republicans are upset with Liz Cheney. It seems a group of Republicans, all lawyers, wrote a letter saying that the attorney’s Eric Holder hired at the justice department had not done anything wrong in defending terrorists who had been taken into custody by the United States. Now the left and the liberals are trying to convince  America that Liz Cheney was too aggressive in her pursuit of wanting to know the names of the lawyers now on the government payroll. The problem is that it is a completely false argument which is meant to distract people from the true story of  the Attorney General hiring lawyers who may be sympathetic to their former clients views. To begin with she did not hire the Al-Qaeda Seven, Holder did.

Liz Cheney and her web site, KeepAmericaSafe.com have been on the front of this story from the beginning. I have never heard her claim that it was illegal to hire these attorneys. I have heard her question the judgment of our esteemed Attorney General in hiring lawyers who represented terrorists against the United States government and in at least one case fought against the detention of suspects at GITMO. I think to most Americans it seems odd that the very person charged with prosecuting terrorists hires lawyers who were against the government and its policies only a few years ago. The real question is why do it in the first place? The United States has tens of thousands of lawyers, you would have to believe Holder could have found some that did not oppose the government in terrorist trials. Unless of course you make the assumption he agrees with them. That’s me saying that, not her.

Eric Holder is fast becoming a disgrace, from his dropping charges against the New Black Panthers to his having Miranda rights read to the Christmas Bomber after less than an hour of questioning. No, this story is not about Liz Cheney. This story is about an administration that is unable to come to grips with the war on terror we are still fighting. Liz did a great service in pointing out that our nations justice department is under questionable leadership, at best. The left and the liberals would love to change the story line to one were the GOP comes out against her, the truth is that conservatives around the country support what she did. The mainstream media has done everything it can to cover this story up. If they could convince people she went “rogue” or something they think they may be able to discredit her. The fact is she is a lot like her father in at least one respect, national security his/her thing. Holder should ask Obama what happens when you pick a fight with a Cheney on Nation Security.
